This hands-on Zoom class will teach kids what sourdough bread is and how to make it. This tactile and instructional class will require a small amount of adult supervision (measuring water).
We will touch on many topics not covered in a typical public school curriculum, such as food and agriculture. We will also hone science and math skills, like using a scale and percentages, microbiology, ecology and even nutrition. Bread making is a window into our world!
Households will be sent a sourdough bread making kit including a flour blend for bread making, dehydrated starter with instructions on how to revive it, additional flour for feeding the starter and a booklet with instructions and information about whole grains and sourdough bread making.
Class will include one half hour break so kids can relax, recenter and refocus. If children require any special attention, please reach out beforehand so we can accommodate them!
